A stay in Chiusi, the homeland of the legendary Etruscan King Porsenna, to discover Minuta olive oil: an ancient olive with extraordinary organoleptic and polyphenol properties, found only in Chiusi area. Here was born a community made up of producers, restaurateurs and traders with the common intention of protecting and enhancing this native olive cultivar.
During your stay you will meet these producers, discover the unique properties of this plant and learn how to use the olive oil obtained from the milling of its fruits in kitchen.
DAY 1
You will stay in one of the characteristic BB in the historic center of Chiusi, the perfect base for your journey among Etruscans and excellent products, Minuta olive oil above all!
Let's start from history with a visit to the Civic Museum The underground city! The largest collection in the world of Etruscan epigraphs is exhibited here: inscriptions on urns and tiles from tombs. Sappiamo che per il rito funebre gli etruschi facevano un largo uso di oli profumati, ma non solo! In fact, the olive oil was produced in large quantities and was used in daily life, as a food, beauty product or ingredient to preserve food, thanks to the polyphenols that protect against oxidation and therefore aging. National Etruscan Museum with local finds that testify to the wealth of this country
DAY 2
These extraordinary properties of the olive oil are even more concentrated in the Minuta olive tree, secular plantsresistant even to extreme climatic agents whose fruit is difficult to attack by flies and other typical diseases. One of the producers of the Community will tell you all this and much more. You will visit his company with him and after seeing the monumental plants, all you have to do is taste the Minuta olive oil, accompanied by the producer, to understand everything you have seen and heard on your palate!
Bruschetta (toasted bread with EVO oil) is certainly the dish par excellence when it comes to oil. Thanks to dinner in one of the Community's restaurateurs, you will discover how many traditional Tuscan recipes, in any season, can be made with olive oil; in particular, with Chiusi Minuta olive oil which, thanks to its genetic characteristics, is particularly long-lasting, maintaining organoleptic properties unchanged even after months. Do not forget to write down some recipes with Olio di Minuta to re-propose once you return home and to share with your friends.
